Epidavros

Rows of wrinkled limestone sprinkled
with cyclamens blooming, trembling
at the touch of morning’s wet fingers.

Borrowing the staff of Asklepios
I ascend to the cheap seats in a fever of dreams,
hubristic kings and humble purple flowers.
